Lloyd, known for his jovial demeanour and positive outlook on life was moulded at Bethabara All Age and later went on to further his studies at May Day Secondary.
Lloyd, who has always shown a passionate love for music decided to experiment with it in the late 1980’s. He started deejaying under the musical influence of Professor Nuts, Stitchie, Papa San and other mainstream entertainers at the time. While exploring music as a hobby he made a livelihood as a taxi operator on the Newport to Mandeville route. His life changed significantly with the birth of his only child Anastassia Antonetta Jones in 1993.
God’s hands have always been in Lloyd’s life, and so in 1998 Lloyd surrendered his life to the lord and became a member of the Newport New Testament Church of God. As a young convert, his desire to know God more was evident as he was always at Church spending time in counselling and the word of God which resulted in him being appointed as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. Minister LRJ led prayer meetings, fasting, bible studies and even praise and worship during this time. His active involvement in worship served as another avenue for him to pursue his passion; music thus his passion for deejaying grew firmer. Nurturing the love for the gift of deejaying the word of god he started writing Gospel song for his sister Donette Jones aka Dj Donette who obtained her prominence in and around the Manchester areas as one of the few female Gospel artist at that time appearing on most of the Gospel concerts in and around Manchester.
Another milestone of his life was reached when Lloyd Raymond Jones got married on the 3rd of June 2000 to Lillieth Bent. By the year 2007 having written few songs the serious thoughts of recording compelled his spirit but there was no availability in the recoding world for the direction God was leading him, but Lloyd remember vividly saying to his sister “God wi sen D right person come “ Faith would have it that in June 2009 Ryan Roberts aka Blaze entered Lloyd’s taxi heading for Knockpatrick the short journey imminently consolidated the two personalities as both their humor collided automatically and an electrifying social, biblical chemistry was the basis on which the journey continued and ended.
Ryan and Minister LRJ’s friendship develop into a blood brothers type of friendship as they reasoned a lot about the lord, music and other intimate topics. Not long after the music part of the relationship was born and he recorded his first single Salvation Story on the BLAZING “D” PRAISE PRODUCTIONS LABEL ,with the keen guidance of his good friend and producer Ryan.
The song was in the hands of Kevin Lewis of Mega Jams 98.7 FM who was fund of this up tempo hardcore style of presenting the word of God. He never hesitated to endorse this single in his Sunday morning slot gospel jams with the response from friends and encouragement from Blaze and a few of his regular passengers the recording fever started, obtaining the name Minister LRJ from Blaze he has completed his debut album entitled ROOTED & GROUNDED.
He is also the writer of the winning 2015 festival song celebration time song by Lee Priest formally Ancient Priest. His burning desire is to be one of the best among the many soldiers for Christ who is appointed on a mission to reclaim reggae gospel from just being an industry back to being a powerful ministry to win and encourage souls for the kingdom of God.
