IQ Music School

Learn it properly,
in a room where it's done

Lessons in the same studio the records get made in — taught by working producers and session players, not from a textbook. Children and adults, complete beginners welcome.

What we teach

Pick your instrument

One-on-one or small group. Weekly sessions, monthly plans, with a recording at the end of each term so students hear how far they've come.

Voice

Breathing, pitch, tone and mic technique — taught by people who record singers every week.

Keyboard & piano

Chords, scales and playing by ear, plus reading for students who want it.

Guitar & bass

Rhythm, riddim feel, and enough theory to play with other people confidently.

Drums

Timing, grooves and the one-drop. Practice pad work before the kit for beginners.

Music production

Beat making, arrangement and recording in Logic Pro X. Bring a laptop if you have one.

Mixing basics

For artists and producers who want to stop guessing. Gain staging, EQ, compression, effects.

In the room

Taught where it's done

Students practise in the same space records get made in, on the same gear. By the time they record, the room is already familiar.

How we start

A short first session to hear where the student is and agree what they're working towards. No audition, no pressure.

Term recording

Every student records something at the end of term in the main room — a real take, mixed, to keep.

Start lessons

Tell us the student's age, the instrument and roughly when they're free, and we'll come back with a slot.
